If the Sun is not alive and conscious, then how can it make life possible, and maintain life? Likewise, if a Minister, Preacher, or other spiritual leader has had no spiritual realization or experience, how can they lead or guide the spiritual path of another?

My early spiritual path consisted of visiting a 501 (c)(3) (church) once a week for an hour or two, where I was told the same stories over and over, and taught that what I believe is the thing that matters. What I was not taught is that, like every other thing of value in this world, spiritual attainment requires hard work.

It took me years of researching other spiritual traditions and older versions of Christianity to learn that there is much more to spiritual progress than believing – and it entails work. Hard work that requires dedication, guidance, and learning over a lifetime, for most of us.

During my years of spiritual searching, I realized commonalities across traditions, cultures, and time. In the oldest spiritual traditions in our world (in India), I found Autobiography of a Yogi. Within its pages, I found deeper meanings within Christian scripture. I also found explanations and causes for miracles, instead of just being amazed or incredulous. When I had asked questions about such things in church, I was instructed to take it on faith, and to just believe. But what is more, in this book, I found traditions and ideas I had read about in other places, cultures, and times, explained more fully.

I was once thrown out of a bible study for pointing out that dying and then going to Heaven is similar to the idea of reincarnation, where one dies, and then living somewhere else. I had come to realize that questioning the party line is unacceptable. This happened after years of separation from the church, due to the nothing sandwich I felt I was being served. I thought that maybe a bible study would offer more, which it actually did. It was the first time I had seriously studied the bible, using free will to interpret meaning. And yet, even applying serious effort, I was scarcely beyond the surface level reading of familiar stories. I would later learn that the surface level stories exist to provide a path for those who wish to go further. Much later, I came to know that there are many levels of information hidden in the scripture that I thought I knew. I found there is only surface level information on offer in any church I had ever attended, which normally takes place on the day of the Sun. The religion I was brought up in does not attend church on the scriptural sabbath. But, then again, that is Saturn’s day – which has never been addressed at any service I have attended, and that level of information is quite near the surface!

I had become bored with showing up on the day of the Sun to hear the same stories I knew by heart. It was not enough for me to be told how to think about those stories, and that “belief” is the main goal in spiritual life. I wanted more than that. Maybe those early experiences were necessary, so that one day I could come to comprehend that “Belief is the Enemy of Knowing”. I did not want to believe…I wanted to know.

Ironically, I grew up in San Diego, 30 miles south of Yogananda’s Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas, and 20 minutes from his downtown location. I cannot tell you how many times I drove past, feeling the pull, but never stopping. I was too wrapped up in the drug culture that had been normalized in my generation. That was a time when I could have sorely benefited from “Self-Realiztion”, and yet, I remained disillusioned, due to my earlier church years. It likely made the chance of me pulling over less likely, also having been taught at a young age that “my church” was the only true religion, with all others being misguided, uninformed, quaint, or just plain sacrilegious.

At some point, I became aware that mixing spirituality with a corporation is like mixing oil and water. On that count, scripture does inform us who the prince of this world is. In the current generation, there should be little doubt who is holding power down here. We “should” all know that accepting the word of authority, in this climate, can cost you your life, as it did for so many after 2020. The time for trusting authority is behind us, and opposition to spiritual life is palpable at this point. It has gotten so bad, that it almost feels like an open war on decency.

Now is the time to carefully examine and challenge everything, regardless of source. All the more if it is mainstream, having clearly learned that corporations run things now, and that corporations do not serve the people, as the governments they are replacing were supposed to do. They serve a board of directors and shareholders, who benefit from the hyper-materialization that exists, contrary to spiritual concerns.

Scripture tells us exactly where to look to find the Kingdom of God. Jesus himself tells us to look within. “Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21) The problem is that no church I ever attended told me this is possible, or showed me how to do this, and it turns out to be a difficult and time-consuming endeavor that requires guidance, if you intend to go the distance, an endeavor with definite benchmarks for progress, and millennia of proof to its validity. No longer should you wonder at the vow of silence from the old days, or a monk confining his life to a cell. In those times gone by, Christians were still practicing the mind sciences, stilling their thoughts and taking control of their minds. There is a reason the Vatican sports a giant pinecone (pineal gland symbol) statue. It recalls the importance of the spiritual eye, or single-eye mentioned in scripture that can see well beyond the two eyes you use now…in the light, or in the dark. Three of the Gospels are called “synoptic”, or to see with one eye.

If you are a spiritual seeker in this time of era shift, and are interested in consciousness and spiritual elevation, make it a must to obtain a copy of Autobiography of a Yogi. You may be very surprised what is on offer, if you have an open mind, and are free of the mainstream dogma that has kept you away for so long.

In closing, did you know that the average person experiences a new thought with each new breath? It is for this reason the untamed mind has been described as boiling water or a crazy monkey in a tree, where the self-tamed mind is calm and free of mad monkeys, making ready the hard work of ego and super-human control.
